Free will

There are many people who call themselves Christians and say that God gives us free will. They say that God wants us to be Christians straight out pure love from Him. They say that He doesn't FORCE anyone to be Christians, because otherwise they will not be a Christian out of love, but simply because of coercion. They say that we have the freedom to accept Christianity and to not accept it and that we are fully aware of the severe consequences of not accepting it.

Those who say this are close to right but they only missing ONE vital fact. Most who are willing to admit what the Bibles says will quickly acknowledge this fact.

The fact they are missing here is that CHRISTIANITY IS NOT A CHOICE. We cannot say, "Hmmm. I am going to be a Christian" and then become a true Christian. God HIMSELF must actually SAVE us and make us a Christian. We cannot become a true Christian on our own. Ephesians 2:8-9 says, "For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that NOT of ourselves, it is the gift of God, not as the result of WORKS, that no one should boast." Some people say that must give us the gift, and only if we accept it, then we become a Christian. But if so, then our acceptance of the gift IS WORKS!!!

Another important fact they miss here is that God is ALL POWERFUL. He has the POWER to bring about ANYTHING He please. If He wants to save us, He saves us. He doesn't have to wait on us to receive His gift. Romans 9:18 says, "So then He has mercy on whom He desires and He hardens whom He desires." So if He wants to have mercy on us by saving us, He does so. He made us and He doesn't have to wait on us to accept Him. If it was left up to us to actually accept the gift of God before we could be saved, we never would be saved, because apart from being saved, we were enemies to God. Romans 5:10 says, "For if while we were enemies'" and Romans 5:8 says, "But God demonstrates His own love toward us in that while we were yet sinners'." Since we were enemies and sinners we wouldn't have the will to even choose God; we were content as heathens. Besides, if we DID actually accept the gift of God, then this acceptance would be righteousness. Since this would be righteousness, then that means that others who did not accept the gift are not as righteous as we are. But that's not true. We are no better than anyone else. Also, we cannot make an act of true righteousness UNTIL we are saved, which suggest that we must ALREADY be saved to make the righteous act of acceptance of Christ. In order for us to be saved, God places His Spirit, the Holy Spirit in us. The Holy Spirit cleanses us and makes us love the Law of God and hate sin. Once we have the Holy Spirit, we are saved and that forever. God doesn't stop the salvation He started. We have NO hand whatsoever to our salvation. God, the Almighty simply chooses us to be Christian and for those He does not choose, they simply go to hell, -God is not obligated to ANY of us, and He can do as He pleases.

Romans 10:11 and 13 basically say that if we call upon the name of God and believe in Him, we will be saved. Some people mistake this as works. It is important for us to remember that when God says, "Whoever believes'" and "whoever calls'" He is meaning ONLY when such a belief and call is SINCERE. For such a belief and call to be TRULY sincere in God's sight, we MUST have the Holy Spirit first anyway. Remember, John the Baptist was born-again in his mother's womb before he could conscientiously believe and call upon Christ with His mind. Obviously, his salvation like all other Christians' is NOT a choice, NOT an acceptance, but strictly a pure act of our good Creator.

So we do not have the freedom to accept Christ or not accept Him. If God has not given us the Holy Spirit, we CANNOT accept Christ. I myself, cannot FORCE Christianity on ANYONE. Why? Because, I cannot make anyone a true Christian. I can make hypocrites, but what good is that? I am not trying to make people accept Christianity, because a true acceptance can only be done by God. God does not FORCE anyone to be a Christian. Why? Because, if God wants someone to be a Christian, He simply gives them the Holy Spirit and then they are a Christian. Remember how the Apostle Paul was saved? He obviously wasn't seeking Christ. God saves whom He wishes, and does not save others. Christ did not die for everyone!!! For those who say that God doesn't force us to accept Christianity, they are forgetting the Almighty Power of God who makes those whom He please accept Christianity apart from ANY interaction on their side. The only person in this world who had free will was Adam. He could choose to obey God, or not to obey. But once he choose NOT to obey, we ALL fell into the irrevocable condition of not being able to accept God. Christ then comes and saves a few, and these after they are saved, accept Christ.
